Who Can Join?

USSFCU has served the Senate and Capitol Hill communities for over 85 years. Today, with 100+ paths to membership, nearly anyone can join and experience the USSFCU difference. Per internal policy, at this time USSFCU only offers services to U.S. Citizens and US Permanent Residents holding a non-conditional Green Card.

You are eligible to join if:

  • You work for or retired from one of our 100+ Select Employee Groups (SEGs)
  • You’re an immediate family or household member of a current USSFCU member
    (e.g., spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, step-relative, or anyone living in the same household)

Or, you're a member of:

Joining USSFCU is easy—apply online, visit one of our branches, or call us at 800.374.2758 to get started.

To become a member, you’ll need to:

  • Open a Primary Savings Account with at least $5
  • Pay a one-time-only $1 membership fee
  • Verify your eligibility with supporting documentation

If you're joining through the American Consumer Council or US Capitol Historical Society, please complete that membership before submitting your USSFCU application.

  • Open a Primary Savings Account with a minimum balance of $5 and pay a one-time $1 membership fee.
  • Open a free Senate Checking Account with a USSFCU Visa® Debit Card.
  • Make 20 debit card purchases of $10 or more within six months of membership. ATM withdrawals and transfers are not eligible.
  • Set up qualifying direct deposit of $500 or more per month for six consecutive months. Qualifying direct deposits include payroll, Social Security, or recurring government/retirement income using your USSFCU routing and account number. Transfers, teller deposits, or wires do not qualify.
