USSFCU Welcomes Don DiMatteo as Chief Lending Officer

Alexandria, VA, February 5, 2025 – The United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Don DiMatteo as its new Chief Lending Officer (CLO). With over 35 years of experience in lending and financial services, DiMatteo brings a wealth of leadership, expertise, and a deep passion for member-focused lending solutions.

DiMatteo’s career spans 17.5 years at Wells Fargo, where he managed retail branches and lending operations, and nearly 20 years at State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU), where he served as Senior Vice President of Lending and Managing Director of Member Experience. Under his leadership, SDFCU grew from $700 million to over $2.8 billion in assets, and he played a key role in expanding lending programs, member engagement, and financial education.

A recognized industry leader, DiMatteo currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Managers Association (MACUMA) and is a frequent speaker and instructor at national conferences, including NAFCU and America's Credit Unions events. His dedication to mentoring and talent development has earned him numerous accolades, including CUES Exceptional Leader of the Year and Corporate Leader in Personnel Development at Wells Fargo.

DiMatteo holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and Marketing from Towson University. He has continued his professional development, earning credentials from NAFCU’s Management Leadership Institute at Duke University, CUES School of High Performance, and CUES School of Applied Strategic Management, where he earned his CSE (Certified Strategic Executive) designation.

In addition to his professional achievements, DiMatteo is an active community leader. He is a certified high school sports official, officiating basketball, volleyball, and softball, and has volunteered extensively in youth sports and local education programs.

As Chief Lending Officer at USSFCU, DiMatteo will lead the credit union’s lending portfolio, oversee loan operations, and drive strategic initiatives that align with USSFCU’s mission to provide exceptional financial services to its members.
