As Hurricane Florence Approaches the East Coast

Hurricane Florence may impact your area over the next several days, and your safety is our primary concern.
Please consider these tips from Ready.gov in preparation for the storm.
Ensure you have quick access to storm updates and emergency instructions.

Plan your evacuation route well ahead of time in case your area is instructed to evacuate.
Prepare emergency supplies. Include a three-day supply of drinking water, food that you don’t have to refrigerate or cook, first aid supplies, candles, matches and batteries.
Prepare your home.
Bring any loose, lightweight outside objects inside and anchor heavier items that could become projectiles
Cover all of your home’s windows. Permanent storm shutters offer the best protection for windows or consider boarding up windows with 5/8” exterior grade or marine plywood, cut to fit and ready to install.
When a hurricane is 6-18 hours from arriving:
Check your city/county website frequently in order to get the latest weather updates and emergency instructions. Turn on your TV/radio.
Charge your cell phone and other devices so you will have a full battery in case you lose power.
If you’re not in an area that is recommended for evacuation, plan to stay home or where you are and let friends and family know where you are.
