Supporting Our Furry Friends
Published: October 3, 2019
USSFCU employees spent a hot Saturday on the Wharf supporting the Humane Rescue Alliance’s DC Walk for the Animals fundraising event. Together, with other DC area pet support partners, over $57,000 was raised for HRA. These funds will benefit the thousands of animals HRA provides comfort and care to annually, including an average of 30 new animals entering their adoption centers every day.
DC’s Walk for the Animals brings together area animal lovers together in effort to end pet homelessness in our nation’s capital. This annual event includes a fundraising walk around District Wharf, local food and beer, music, community partners, dog-friendly activities, adoptable pets and the popular Wiener 500.
As a sponsor of the event and HRA Partner for Pets, USSFCU employees worked together to encourage colleagues, friends, family, and neighbors to join in reaching HRA’s 2019 Fundraising Goal. In addition to fundraising together for the event, Team USSFCU walked the event and could even be found on the Pier handing out toys and other goods to participating pets and their proud owners!
Thank you to the USSFCU Representatives and everyone who showed up and supported the DC Walk for the Animals!
Members Helping Members
What’s neat about HRA is that they are members, just like you. Employees of HRA, formally the Washington Humane Society, are eligible to join USSFCU—making them part of our Credit Union family.
